True Leader.

Many millions of Americans in this sharply divided nation have a forbidding attitude toward the current POTUS. You, among them. Any one of a dozen issues raises your hackles. In the main, it’s pretty hard to stomach a congenital liar. Generally, the leader of the free world is upheld as a role model; that is, a person of honor and integrity. Not that the Oval Office was without previous stain. Slick Willie saw to that. And the Sultan of Sleaze also was no piker in perjuring himself. In matters of policy, for the sake of brevity, simply listing some of your grievances should suffice to register your prejudice against the peccancy of one B. H. Obama, a.k.a. Barry Soetoro.

Healthcare. Obamacare fiasco unwanted by a majority of the nation.

Election Fraud. Disabled the credit card verification system for web site donations.

Libya. Intervened without  Congressional approval required by War Powers Act.

Crony capitalism. Gave 1,200 waivers to donors, exempting them from Obamacare.

Credit downgrade. For the first time in American history.

Drones. Violated Constitution by authorizing drones to kill American citizens abroad — without due process.

Apologist. Bowed to world leaders for American “swagger.”

Foreign Policy.  Ignored secular Iranian democracy uprising, allowing it to be crushed by Islamic fundamentalist regime.

Intimidation. Used Obamacare to greatly increase the size, power and reach of IRS.

Intimidation. Used the IRS to harass conservative business.

Intimidation. Sued Boeing to block location to right to work state.

Mismanagement. Hired tax cheater Timothy Geithner to be Secretary of the Treasury.

To the dismay of even his opponents, you called BHO a socialist in 2008. But his tactics, his words, his style, his resume, his connections — everything about him — screamed demagogue. This person has a deep seated childhood bitterness and resentment, forged by his mentors, for America’s traditional core beliefs and dominating influence in the world. You can forgive him his stale and shopworn ideology. You can forgive him those policies and actions that have driven this country to its economically distressed knees. You can forgive him for pandering to enemies. But what you can never overlook — even for a microsecond — is the absence of love for his country. As skilled an orator as he may be, he can not hide his ambivalence, his detachment, his animosity. Thanks to kindred soul Roy Filly you revisited what it was like to hear a president, a true leader, who loved his country to the very bottom of his heart. http://theruggedindividualist.wordpress.com/2014/02/01/no-words-no-title-just-watch-a-true-leader/ And when you hear him speak, you come to grips with the two attributes missing from the POTUS du jour : he doesn’t know the meaning of leadership and he doesn’t bleed red, white and blue. America deserves much, much better.

Vengeance

Just about everyone — at least Christians — must depend upon God for the administration of Justice. This reliance is at once convenient and essential because Justice on earth is often lost, gone with the wind. You can’t blame Justice. Her job is impossible. Every day, every hour, every minute, some person or group or gang or company or country violates life, liberty and the pursuit of happiness. Every minute, every second, victims lose their property, their health and their lives at the hands of criminals. According to the FBI, 40% of murders, 78% of reported rapes and 85% of property crime remain unsolved. Meanwhile, financial fraud, including identity theft, credit card scams, embezzlement and corporate graft, escalate faster than the National Debt. These statistics lead to one dismal conclusion — in a land forged on the principle of “liberty and justice for all,” millions of victims are deprived of exactly that — of justness, of redress, of due process. All the while, those who are elected to administer Justice preach that victims may not “take the law into their own hands,” not to mention moralists who preach that no wrong justifies vengeance. In other words, take your grievance, bury it and be happy with the admonition: “Vengeance is mine,” saith the Lord. This assertion may not console you, but it’s sweet music to rapists, murderers, criminal politicians and other thieves in high places who are free to pillage and plunder, more than willing to postpone their judgment until, say, Judgment Day, at which time they can beg forgiveness and say, “I’m sorry. I didn’t mean it. I repent.” Unlike the 9-11 terrorists who gleefully were able to greet Allah and shout, “We did it, we meant it and we would do it again. Bring on our adorable virgins.” You have to appreciate the Muslim version of eternity. Lacking earthly judgment, you must rely on movies to satisfy at least your psychological hunger for Justice. Hollywood has always understood and capitalized on your human frustration — seeing evil walk free. Suitably, therefore, revenge films have always dominated American cinema. When Gunnery Sergeant Bob Lee Swagger (Shooter) blows away Senator Charles F. Meachum, you at that very moment relish the execution. Death Wish had only one failing — both Charles Bronson and the series passed on. In Dirty Harry’s Sudden Impact (1983), Jennifer Spencer (Sondra Locke) tracks down and stares down several rapists who thought they had escaped Justice. What they saw last was that little hole in the end of her .38 snub-nosed revolver. Delicious. All well and good — in the movies. But, take heart. You shouldn’t give up on the American system of Justice simply because crime does actually pay. You shouldn’t fret over a POTUS who lies at every breath, disrupting the lives and welfare of millions. It’s not your concern that nobody has paid for the Benghazi murders of Ambassador Christopher Stevens, Information Officer Sean Smith and Navy Seals Glen Doherty and Ty Woods. Nobody in Libya. Nobody in the State Department. Nobody at the White House. Nobody. And there’s no Bobby Lee Swagger to make it right. Besides, “what difference does it make,” asked Empress Clinton. Obviously, to her, not one iota. Obviously, to Eric Holder, not a smidgen, anymore than it did when Border Patrol Agent Brian Terry was gunned down in an ATF gun-smuggling operation known as “Fast and Furious.”  Despite these minor incidents, you have reason to hope that Justice could make a comeback. Last year, the Obama Administration spent almost $18 billion on immigration enforcement, 24% more than it spent on the FBI, Drug Enforcement Administration, Secret Service, U.S. Marshals Service and the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives — combined. This investment certainly has something to do with Justice, doesn’t it? Let’s see — come to think of it, it didn’t prevent the “immigration” of up to 20 million aliens and didn’t prevent the benevolent dictator in D.C. from contributing your tax dollars to their welfare. In the final analysis, you need to cool your jets. Better talk to God. Better tell Him to do a proper job with the vengeance thing. Christians depend on it.

The Pretender

Evidence suggests that Hollywood is nothing less than a world class cesspool. But swimming around in the muck you occasionally spot some splendid work — films of substance that leave a lasting mark. However squalid and seamy Hollywood is, no one can deny that moviedom is a penetrating historical repository, giving you an explicit view of our society’s changing mores from generation to generation. If you care to pay attention, you will discover mutations in language, culture, value systems — and of course, technology. You will notice that bad is good, that good is square and that morality is relative. You will learn that homosexuality, bisexuality, bestiality, drugs, violence and sleeping around are the new normals. That Christianity is absurd superstition. And that Christians are extremists. Hollywood has learned, like Waste Management, Inc., that recycling rubbish is crackerjack business. Then, unpredictably, you stumble onto a golden nugget amid the scraps, scrapings and sweepings of Tinseltown. In a display of uncommon — or unconscious — ingenuity and intuition, writers Warren Skaaren and Sam Hamm and director Tim Burton, unwittingly created in 1989 a perfect metaphor for the state of America, circa 2008-2014. The movie is Batman. The scene is downtown Gotham City. Throngs of people jam streets and sidewalks, anticipating a festive parade organized by none other than The Joker himself who has promised to give away money out of the goodness of his heart. Sure enough, he and his henchmen fill the air with greenbacks and, gullible to the core, the frenetic crowd erupts in a frenzy of delight. “That’s right, folks. Who can you trust?  Me, I’m here handing out real money. And where is Batman?” By now you know the money’s as fake as The Joker himself who has lied and mugged his way to power. Hollywood has given you scores of similar arch villains — frauds, con men, charlatans, serial killers, Ponzi cheats, gold diggers, chiselers, swindlers — who all share essential traits: the ability to deceive, seduce and manipulate; the ability to lie on an epic scale; the ability to flash a beguiling, disarming smile. The phonies are everywhere, from dictators to gigolos. That’s not at all surprising. What staggers you is how real life can mimic the most outrageous flick showbiz ever invented. You’re not shocked by the outrageous baseness of the scam artist, but by the half-witted gullibility of the victim, the sucker who can’t spot the obvious clues of a pretender. More astonishing is witnessing this ignorance on a massive scale when a politician with all the classic traits of duplicity can still brainwash millions. Welcome to America, proving that 21st century humans have a seemingly infinite capacity for incapacity, as did their ancestors down through the ages who worshiped impostors by the dozens. Hollywood tells the story again and again. Only the hero knows the bad guy is a fake and eventually comes to the rescue. But the people remain oblivious. They always do — until the end. Unfortunately for America, the last time you looked, you saw no sign of the Bat Signal.

The ranting and raving of critical Dick.
