Television is God.
This assertion must be true, considering that American adults spend at least five hours every day at the flat screen altar, ingesting TV pabulum. Excluding the clergy and other church workers, the average American adult spends between 0-1 hour weekly with God. More specifically, statistics suggest that a mere 30% of adults attend church weekly. Slice it any way you like — God plays no better than third fiddle to The Tube and its more convenient sidekick — The Device. These are your all-knowing, all-powerful Lord and Masters — your companions and mentors. The Tube feeds and you swallow. The Device vibrates and you jump. The “Public” Tube trains preschool children what to think. As parents chase the buck, PBS shapes their culture, values and opinions. Meanwhile, Hollywood and other “entertainment” empires take dead aim at juvenile brains, dishing out a delicious concoction of violence, depravity, profanity and promiscuity. The impact of Hollywood on puerile minds is nothing new. Adolescents and teens have always ridiculed convention and itched to transgress; but parents, and yes, God, were there to tug on their reins — at least prior to the 80’s. Then, parents by the droves left the family scene, driven partly by militant feminism. Today, perhaps 40% of children live in what you would call a traditional family. And even they, in their most formative years, are handed over to public institutions which, by order of courts, boycott any mention of God — that is, a Christian God. American Television picks up the slack for public school, inflating teenage mush with a steady diet of scholarly viewpoint from the mouths of trained talking heads and Hollywood celebrities. To be sure, teenagers will never hear opinions from engineers, scientists, physicians, builders or the small business owner down the street. Never. But The Tube does train its cameras on a giant intellect like Robert De Niro. And on Brad Pitt, Sean Penn, Jennifer Aniston and George Clooney. Not to mention Sarah Silverman, Ben Affleck, Whoopie Goldberg, Matt Damon and a host off other “idols” whose primary skill is acting — or more specifically — pretending to be someone they’re not. In their ignorance, young mush brains perceive movie actors as somebodies when, in reality, they are nobodies. The somebodies in Hollywood are the writers, editors, directors, producers, stuntmen (women), composers, set designers, animators and other skilled practitioners who actually do something. The nobodies are “created” — either by having celebrity ancestors, or by their photogenic physical attributes. They show up — are “made up” — are told what to say and how to say it. They are told when to move and how to move. And if they don’t say it or move it just right the first time, they do it again and again and again — dozens of times for a 15 second “take.” Thanks to Hollywood and The Tube, these are the left-wing nobodies who are bigger than life, bigger than God. These are the nobodies that mush brains flip over. In the most recent midterm election, 64 percent of mush brains under the age of 24 voted to trash The Constitution and make America a Socialist State. Almost everyone would agree that’s an absurd conclusion. While you think 80 percent of Americans, including all the Trumpers, are in reckless denial. To be trite, it’s called “kick-the-can-down-the-road” syndrome. Here’s a flash: Donald Trump can not and will not derail Socialism. He will erect temporary roadblocks only. Flash #2: Both political parties are A-OK with Socialism. The Media is all-in for it. Universities are for it. Millennials are for it. European allies are for it. Immigrants are for it. African Americans are for it. LGBTers are for it. Giant corporations are for it. And the Supreme Court has aided and abetted it.
